What We Believe

BIBLE

We believe the Bible is God’s inerrant revelation to mankind. It is the basis of all that we know and believe about God. The Bible is God’s absolute truth and thus becomes the standard by which we live our lives. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

GOD

God is the one and only Eternal Supreme Being of all existence. He is the Creator, Sustainer and absolute Sovereign of all that is. God is uniquely holy. He has revealed Himself to us in three distinct ways. (Genesis 1:1, 2 Corinthians 13:14)

  1. God the Father is personal, eternal, changeless God. He cares for, loves, corrects and protects His children. (Deuteronomy 10:14,17; Psalm 102:24-27)
  2. God the Son is God revealing Himself in human form as Jesus Christ. Because He is God, He is the only One who could become the perfect sacrifice for the sin of mankind. After dying on the cross, He ascended to Heaven´s glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of kings and Lord of lords. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 1:3-4)
  3. God the Holy Spirit makes men aware of their sin, judgment of that sin, and their need for a Savior. He indwells the believer with power, spiritual understanding and guidance in holy living. (John 16:7-13; 14:16-17)
MAN

Man was created by God in His image to live eternally in perfect unblemished fellowship with God. (Genesis 1:27; Isaiah 53:6)

SIN

Sin is treason against God’s character and rebellion against God’s commands. Beginning with the first man, Adam, all have sinned and fall short of God’s standard of perfection. (1 John 3:4; Romans 3:23)

SALVATION

Because of God’s absolute holiness, sin cannot be tolerated. It must be judged. God’s judgment upon sin is physical death and eternal separation from Himself. Because of God the Father’s amazing love and mercy, God the Son (Jesus Christ) offered Himself to be crucified on the cross to die a substitutionary death and take this judgment for all mankind. The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead demonstrated His power over sin and death. Salvation (God’s rescue from the consequences and power of sin) is offered as a free gift to all who place their faith in that finished work of Jesus Christ. (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9)

THE SECURITY OF THE BELIEVER

Man’s salvation is in no way based upon man’s performance but is solely secured by our faith in Jesus Christ. God promises that HE will save everyone who places their trust in Jesus. We believe our eternal salvation rests completely in the faithfulness of God. (John 10:27-29; 1 Peter 1:3-5)

BAPTISM

We believe that baptism by immersion is the first step of obedience for the believer. It is symbolic of the substitutionary death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and symbolizes the believer’s death to self, burial of the old nature and resurrection to new life. (Matthew 28:19-20; John 3:22-23)
